VIM Welcomes Michele Shalaby to Management Team
Michele Shalaby, local activist and member of the Board of Selectmen for the town of New Marlborough, has been named Human Resources/Volunteer Manager by Volunteers in Medicine Berkshires. She replaces Susan Minnich, who will retire in December.
“I was attracted to this job for several reasons, but the main attraction for me is VIM itself and its mission,” said Shalaby. “I also know and respect (VIM Executive Director) Ilana Steinhauer, and I’m looking forward to working with her and the team.”
Shalaby is a native of Indiana and holds an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago. She has a diverse business background, including ownership of a management and technical consulting firm. She has lived in the Berkshires for nine years and joined the New Marlborough Board of Selectmen five years ago.
“I enjoy tasks that combine technical and administrative challenges with a social aspect,” said Shalaby, who will recruit and coordinate a large group of volunteers as well as administer federal medical malpractice insurance programs and have other human resources responsibilities.
“We are very happy to welcome Michele to our VIM family,” said Executive Director Ilana Steinhauer, FNP. “Susan Minnich has been with VIM since the beginning and has given us a solid foundation to build upon. I’m sure Michele will continue to help VIM grow and flourish as a volunteer-driven organization.”
“After 14 years helping VIM become the vibrant health center it is today, it’s time for a new adventure,” said Susan Minnich. “I’m thrilled to turn my management role over to Michele Shalaby and have no doubt that her energy, talent and initiative will help VIM continue to grow and succeed.”
Shalaby has two children in high school in the Southern Berkshire Regional School District and enjoys her role as theatre costumer for school productions. She is also a nature lover who walks, hikes and skis.
