VIM Open House

About 70 supporters of Volunteers in Medicine Berkshires (VIM), including members of the Board of Trustees, volunteers and clinic staff, celebrated the expansion of the clinic on Thursday evening, June 16th.

Highlights of the celebration included tours of the newly renovated space and remarks from longtime VIM champion State Representative William “Smitty” Pignatelli as well as Great Barrington Town Manager Jennifer Tabakin.

VIM Board Chairman Arthur Peisner thanked the many generous donors who provided the funds to make the clinic expansion possible. He also thanked both Pignatelli and Tabakin for their support throughout the renovation process.

“We are grateful to Smitty for all that he’s done for the clinic over the years,” said Peisner. “And Jennifer’s building department helped us through the sometimes complicated process of construction of our expanded facility. We appreciate them being here to help us celebrate our new space, which will allow us to significantly improve delivery of our health care services for our patients.”

Pignatelli spoke about the need to expand dental coverage to more children in Massachusetts and said he has filed a bill to make dental services more available by creating a new occupation of advanced dental hygiene practitioner.

Rita Welch Catering provided refreshments for the event and music was supplied by members of The Lucky 5 Jazz Band. Bella Flora donated flowers and several VIM volunteers helped to make the Open House a big success.
